Rostelecom, Kaspersky offer detection of sophisticated cyberattacks
MOSCOW, Oct 22 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Rostelecom-Solar, a unit of telecom operator Rostelecom, and antivirus software maker Kaspersky have launched a service discovering sophisticated cyberattacks on computers and servers, Kaspersky said on Thursday in a statement.
“Highly qualified perpetrators (cyber mercenaries and cyber corps) use a combination of unique and expensive own developments with legal tools and social engineering methods to install malicious modules in a system under attack,” Kaspersky said.
“These sophisticated tools are gradually distributed in the shadow segment of the Web, and they are weaponized by cybercriminals with medium qualification. Their main methods of penetrating a victim’s infrastructure remain phishing mailouts with complicated malware that is not usually identified by a standard antivirus.”
